The BJJ Instructor is the most critical aspect of any jiu-jitsu academy. Be wary of anybody who badmouths his competitors or claims to be the best for whatever reason. On the other hand, if someone has genuinely been practicing jiu-jitsu for a long time, they should be humble about their skills.

So, Your BJJ instructor and teammates help you a lot to take your jiu-jitsu game to the next, so respect them all.

  •  Always Feeling Jiu-Jitsu 

“If you feel you’re late, then you use strength, and if you use strength, you’re tired. Or if you’re tired, you die.”

This is one of my favorite quotes, and it means that all Brazilian jiu-jitsu must be based on how you feel about your BJJ opponent.

The time needed to decide is not based on what you think you should be doing. Instead, it’s about muscle memory. For example, when a jiu-jitsu opponent is passing your guard, In this case, you should react, not falling in thinking about what to do? 

Likewise, a considerable number of BJJ instructors said, “Brazilian jiu-jitsu would be based on reaction.” Thus when you reach your muscles, take the command of your body, not your mind, so you’re devoid of anger, fear, and frustration.

You are simply moving and readjusting your jiu-jitsu positions. If your opponent is pushing your elbow and you’re tired and almost hurt, it doesn’t make a bad situation because you will react in the perfect timing to neglect all these.

  • Believe in Your Rank

For any BJJ student, ‘you should be aware that you lose yourself if you worry about the time and speed of your promotions. Remember your beginning in the jiu-jitsu, and you’re your hard work at all the colored BJJ belt levels.

Jiu-jitsu is an individual sport where you need BJJ partners to progress your jiu-jitsu game. However, comparing yourself with your partners only hinders your experience. Some BJJ instructor is going to treat you as an isolated individual. 

When he sees you grapple, he is not impressed if you win or lose. What he wants to see is your use of the Brazilian jiu-jitsu fundamentals. It does not matter how it ends. He doesn’t care if you tap five times as long as you try to use the jiu-jitsu technique.

  • Forget Your Ego at Home to Progress Your Jiu-Jitsu
