Master Carlos Machado (red and white coral belts) is one of the legendary Machado brothers, he has been training Brazilian jiu-jitsu since he was 4 years old. He represents over five decades of the BJJ martial art learning, teaching, competing, and sharing.

Years ago, Carlos Machado got the 7th-degree black belts (coral belt) under Rigan Machado. Years passed and on October 10, 2020, Carlos Machado got the red and white belts (8th-degree black belt in BJJ martial arts).

What does the Red and white BJJ belt mean in jiu-jitsu?

The red and white belt (commonly referred to as a coral belt) refers to an eighth-degree black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. It represents a BJJ master with a minimum of thirty-seven years of BJJ training and teaching as a black belt. Besides, the red and white belt in jiu-jitsu comes after at least seven years as a red and black belt.

Otherwise, the IBJJF requires that the red and white belt masters can’t get the red belts BJJ until they pass a minimum of ten years of jiu-jitsu practicing.
