Al Ain, May 24 – The fourth edition of the UAE National MMA Championship kicked off today at the ADNEC Centre in Al Ain. The event is organized by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation and brings together over 300 fighters from clubs and academies all over the country.
Day one was all about the youth. Fighters aged 10 to 15 competed in the Youth D (10–11), Youth C (12–13), and Youth B (14–15) categories. The matches were intense. The kids showed real talent, discipline, and hunger to win. It’s clear MMA is growing fast among young people in the UAE.
Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and MMA Federation, said this event is key to spotting and growing new talent. He pointed out how the number of competitors keeps rising each year, proving how strong MMA is becoming in the UAE.
“The support from clubs, families, and fans lifts the athletes and makes the whole event better,” he added.
Oshkun Bahadirov, coach at TKMMAFIT Academy in Dubai, said these events are huge for helping young fighters build their skills and confidence. He praised the federation for giving kids a serious stage to compete on.
Marwan Hussein Al Nimer, father of two Youth C competitors, Yassin and Zinedine, said MMA has made a big difference in his sons’ lives. They’ve grown more confident and focused since joining the sport.
Hind Al Hashmi, from ADMA Academy, grabbed gold in the Youth D 40 kg division. She said her win came from listening to her coach and never giving up. Her family’s support made all the difference.
The action wraps up tomorrow with finals in the Youth A (16–17) and Adults (18+) divisions. Expect another full day of action as the UAE’s MMA scene continues to grow stronger with each round.
