Is Boxing Better Than Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?

Let me share with you the moment I became enmeshed in the age-old argument on boxing vs Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ)—which one is better? Oh wow, I have some ideas even though your taste will determine this.

Thus, the truth is that both combat arts offer so many advantages. They equip you with mental toughness, self-defense instruction, and fitness. But let me share from training in both what I have discovered.

Why Is Starting Boxing More Feasible?

Starting boxing was like having immediate satisfaction. You enter, and they provide some gloves. You already have punches when a coach teaches you how to jab. Punch, block, repeat—it’s simple.

For newcomers, boxing’s simplicity makes it rather appealing. One does not have to recall a million methods. You only need a nasty jab, superb timing, and strong footwork. It also emphasizes keeping on your feet, which most people find natural.

Here are some reasons boxing could be preferable for certain people:

  1. Easier to Learn: Regular training will help you be good in a few months.
  2. Excellent for Self-Defense: To be honest, most battles start standing up. A fast punch can rescue your day.
  3. Awesome Upper-Body Workout: After a session, your arms, core, and shoulders will be blazing.

To be honest, not everyone finds the earth-moving-about concept appealing. Despite appearing less confrontational than BJJ, boxing enables you to engage in combat from a distance.

Why BJJ Is a Completely Different Game?

Let us now specifically address BJJ. Oh, oh, now we enter the technical side. I thought, when I initially began, that I needed a Ph.D. to make sense of things. You might call it guards, submissions, or escapes.

BJJ is about strategy, not just about strength. Someone else is trying to destroy you while you are completing a riddle. Though initially difficult to take up, the reward is worth it. It’s totally worth it!

Here’s what to anticipate while practicing in BJJ:

  1. Every muscle in your body—from your neck to your toes—is worked out fully. You will get great strength everywhere.
  2. BJJ trains you to think under pressure, a very helpful ability in daily life.
Ground control: You are in your element if a conflict finds its playground—many, many times it does.
  3. Indeed, it takes time. You’ve gotta be patient and okay with getting smashed by more experienced people while you learn.

Hence, Is Boxing Better?

It’s more about what suits you than about one being “better than the other.” Boxing might be your greatest choice if you need rapid results and a straightforward route of self-defense.

Fantastic; however, if you want to learn how to dominate on the ground and are eager for a battle.

Regarding myself: I think they’re both awesome, and honestly, the best thing you can do is train in both. You are a complete martial artist if you know how to punch and wrestle.

Regarding you as well? You may be team boxing, team BJJ, or even both. Join the discussion here! 👉 https://youtu.be/ZQJwFVnufp8
